You don’t think of Cobb and Cherokee counties as the hotbeds of Georgia high school football. There have been no state titles there in 40 years.

But if you ask me which was Georgia’s toughest region in 2008, I’m going to say CheroCobb. Or is it CobbOkee? OK, let’s just call it Region 5-AAAAA.

I fear our boys will struggle next year. Just losing too many weapons on offense and ALL but two defensive starters. I'll be their cheering them on though nontheless.

I know of 3 defensive starters that will be returning off the top of my head. huh.gif (Dog position, Line and Linebacker) I think our offensive will hold it's own... Last year's freshman team was undefeated. JV only lost 1 game.

33,26, and 35 are seniors. 45 comes back at MLB. 28 comes back at dog. Not sure about the DL. we had several guys rotate in and out at DL. 75 is a sophmore, and should be a force if he gets a mean streak.

On offense if 20 doesn't transfer we will be solid at RB especially if the freshman #38 get plenty of reps. QB is a question mark. I'm not sure how many OL returns next year. There will be question marks with every team in region 5, depending how many each team graduates. We'll just have to see how it all plays out. Will the coaching staff stay together? That's another important question.

2009 should be an interesting year that's for sure. I have a feeling that football won't be on our minds much though, the way the economy is going...

There was 1 DL starter - #95 as well.. several rotaters for DL and linebackers. #75 is a Junior this year so he will be a Sr next football season, but you are right if he ever gets mean - the person across from him should run...lol.

QB will be interesting to see how it all plays out. TE #49 will be back. 45 also played some OL. #40 is a good FB.

We will have transfers from the realignment of the school zones between NPHS and EPHS.

so who knows!?!?

I'm sooo ready for next season.. my cowbell has been repainted and is ready to ring! smile.gif

east should be fine next year and possibly the next.several players will step right in and do the job on both sides of the ball.the kicking game should be solid as well as next years kicker got numerous reps(milton for example).as with all schools,grades,injuries,move-outs may play a role.
as far as returners--offense should be much better off than the defense.rb,ol--lot of jrs played this year.qb,wr will have to step up.on defense---they will have dl,one dog returning and several that got time(also, maybe a mlb that split started w/ 35).defensive backs played pretty much all year w/o alot of rotation,so that may be a spot where somebody will really have to step up.most of the linebackers and defensive backs stayed on the field--not alot of rotation there.the ones i can think of that got valuable time were also seniors(w/ exception of 45---but he needs to be noseman).
some up and comers off the freshman squad to watch out for that were mankids this year.and some fine players coming off jv.should compete for a playoff spot in AAAAA next year and then probably drop back to AAAA the next.good luck to all!!!hopefully we'll be watching--unless we have to go far to watch mine play on saturdays!!!!

I hear rumors of several key players (upcoming Srs) trying to transfer.. so a lot will depend on if that happens or not. 45 is a big guy - still growing. He does plug a hole. He played both sides of the ball against Milton (3 OTs) very well. 75 is even bigger. I was so proud of everyone of them after that game!! smile.gif That was a *great* game! A lot of the players played together their undefeated freshman /JV years. I think JV has only last 1 game last year. Freshman were undefeated this year and 07 and maybe 06, too?

LOL @ the mankid Freshman comment. I have one of those... laugh.gif

Where's your son playing?
