Did anyone else get a ticket stub from the game they kept the whole ticket when we went in and the attendance office is saying without it my son is unexcused for the day and I even called and told them he was with me his dad at the game why would I lie about him being there. But they still said no stub is unexcused angry.gif

The same thing happened to me in high school. I was also unexcused for leaving early to get rid of the prom because they took the whole ticket at the door. We had our pictures taken (which the yearbook committee had), we took 'the walk', the whole nine yards...but I was still unexcused and had to take a zero on three tests because of it. rolleyes.gif

how could laying out of school to travel to a football game be an excused absence?

just take it for what it is - the kid laid out of school for a day - with parent's permission

They told all of the kids earlier in the week that they would have to have a ticket stub in order for it to be counted excused. They were taking the whole ticket at the gate but I asked for half of my ticket back so that my son would have it for school today. Sorry for you inconvenience with the situation though

Do you think if a student went to an art exhibit in Atlanta or a band festival (just to watch), they would be excused. I don't mean as a school trip. What if the family decided do that?

They did the same thing with the game at The Dome last year....excused absence with ticket stub.

I feel its up to me If I have my kids stay at home or go to football game, as long their grades are good why not let them go to a football game or art showing People need to remember I am the PARENT not the school or its board I think it was great the kids were able to leave and go to game

The school made concessions so that students could go to the game if they wanted to. Being that the game was so far away, the team needed all the fans they could muster. Support from the student body was essential. After all, they were representing the school in the state quarter finals. The boys and coaches were trying to bring a state title home to Paulding County.

Being that the East Raiders was one of only EIGHT teams left playing in AAAA in the entire state was pretty darn special, and could arguably be considered a school holiday so to speak. As it was the School called it a “field trip”

And quite frankly, I didn’t care whether or not the absence was excused or not, our whole family was going. I’m just glad the BOE understood the uniqueness of the situation and allowed the kids to go without being penalized with an unexcused absence.

Can't wait until next year.
