Which do you prepare, and you're more than welcome to include recipes.
Growing up in the north we always had stuffing. My husband's family (lifetime Southerners) have always done dressing - nothing goes in the turkey except celery, onion and maybe an apple for moisture.
Which do you do?
Oh, and my inlaws have always made the dressing, so I can't post the exact recipe, but I found one for sausage/cornbread dressing that sounds pretty much like it.

Dressing!!!! I stuff the turkey with Boudin sausage. We don't eat the sausage ( I don't like to eat sausage with "innards" in it ) but it makes the turkey so moist and lends a wonderful flavor.
RIP Gordon, you can safely buy green bananas again.

Stuffing for us. 
ETA: I guess I did not understand the question. We do not put the stuffing in the bird. We just make it in a pan but call it stuffing. I guess it is called dressing if you don't stuff the bird? I don't know.

Yeppers... I lilke the dressing in a pan, I just like to stuff the bird with stuff that gives flavor. Dried cranberries, fresh sage and oranges are good to stuff it with for flavor also.

and don't forget there are two kinds......
the flat kind you cut into squares from a baking sheet and the kind you bake in a dish and spoon out.

This is funny because my Dad used to get mad when we called the stuffing, dressing. He would always say that the stuffing came from a box and dressing was homemade - wait till I tell him there is a difference.

okay.I have had this converstion before and learned about yet another side to the "dressing/ stuffing" riddle. Apparently,some families bake it in round,ball shapes and eat it that way. No lie.( I can't wait to see what happens to this post now.) For me,I'm a true daughter of the South...it's dressing from a pan!

My best friend does these, and her family goes back for generations in Middle Tennessee.

In Louisiana they make this awesome stuff called melaton dressing (I know that probably isn't spelled right), I just wish I had learned how to make it when I lived there.

I make both..Bread stuffing in the bird..Cornbread dressing on the side. I am going all out this year since Hubby wasn't with us last Thanksgiving...I cant wait!

Cornbread dressing with lots of sage... and celery.
Top it with giblet gravy. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
(Oddly enough, I like the flavor... I can't stand the 'bits' in giblet gravy. )
